Welcome one and all to my new site for the 4 string tenor banjo / mandolin tabs fingerstyle by Martin Dardis. All the sheet music tabs are for GDAE, tuned banjo which is the same as the mandolin and fiddle and the most popular way of tuning. But I'm in the process of adding CGDA tuning to all the songs at the moment . My primary focus will be on beginners and improvers. Most of the songs here are Irish folk and ballad songs with some pop, country and a some Christian songs and Christmas Carols. If your just starting out on the banjo then my advise would be to kick of with some easy to play songs like Belfast Mill and Dirty Old Town. I'll be adding songs over time. I have made all these tabs as easy as I possibly could, each piece of music is in the key of G or D with the odd one in C. Most of these songs have never being made into banjo / mandolin tabs before, especially the pop songs. I like playing the oldies myself so I thought I may as well share them. Hopefully some of you like what I'm doing. I'm trying to include something for everybody including children and those beginners just starting out. Not all the folk songs are Irish in origin, but as I come from Ireland they are the one's I know best. See link for the pop songs.

I have been meaning to put this site together for a long time, mainly because of the amount of requests I was getting for Banjo / Mandolin tabs over on my other website Irish Folk Songs.com I used to play a lot of 4 string banjo many years ago but gave it up when I started playing the tin whistle. I know very well from attending sessions that most banjo players prefer to play the ''Traditional Tunes'' rather than ''Songs'' , I was never really a huge fan of traditional music, I much prefer playing the tune of a song any day. There are plenty more out there like me, but nobody was catering for for those who would rather play songs. There are plenty of websites around that specialize in providing sheet music for trad. tunes and I'm not going that path and will be adding mostly old pop and folk songs. If you like to lend a hand, then please send your tab to [email protected] , Thanks. You won't find any songs on this site in the keys of Bb or Eb or any other difficult to play key. All the songs will be in easiest to play key I can put them into, such as D, G and C.
What If You Can't Read Sheet Music Tabs ?
No problem, as I have included easy banjo / mandolin ''Letter Notes for for most of the songs at this stage.

This is the easiest way of learning to play any song on any musical instrument once you have a fair idea in your head of the melody of the song, [and know where the notes are on the fretboard] and most people already have the tune in their heads and just need a little help finding which notes to play. Most of the time you'll be using the same notes over and over for most songs. I'll be keeping all the songs here as easy to play as possible and will be treating every song as if it's being learned by a complete beginner.
